Two men from Atollville, one 65 and the other 27, died in Tuesday’s crash on Route 11 between Charlotte and Black Point, the RCMP said.
Three teenage students and a bus driver were on a school bus that crashed into a car carrying the two men, the RCMP confirmed on Wednesday.
Sergeant Rene Labe said the driver and two of the students were transported to a hospital where they were found to have no serious injuries.
The collision took place shortly after noon and involved a school bus from the Anglophone northern school district and a car.
The bus was headed for Bathurst and the car was traveling to Campbellton.
No details have been released on what may have caused the crash, but the road was wet and the weather was foggy at the time.
A collision reconstruction specialist from the RCMP and the New Brunswick Coroner’s Office are assisting in the investigation.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
The RCMP works with the school district and other participating support agencies.
