3 teenagers charged with second-degree murder in a shooting in Saskatoon over the weekend

Three teenagers are in custody accused of second-degree murder after the April 24 shooting in Saskatoon.

Shedan Favel, 27, died at the hospital on Sunday. According to city police, he waved to a police officer around 6:30 a.m. Sunday. Favel said he was shot 200 blocks on Avenue O South.

Pauline Favel described her grandson as a “good-hearted soul” who means no harm to anyone. She said he was just trying to live on the streets of Saskatoon. It is from Il-a-la-Cross, Saskato, about 375 kilometers northwest of Saskatoon.

“Shedan deserved more than the world gave him,” she said.

The Favel family is raising money to return his body to Ile-a-la-Cross.

The 13-, 14- and 16-year-olds were arrested shortly afterwards. They cannot be named because of their age.

They appeared in the provincial court on Monday and were detained until May 5th.

Defendant’s parents and family members were in court but declined to speak.

Police believe the trio may have been linked to an earlier robbery attempt.

“Investigators were able to establish that the robbery with a firearm took place in the same area just before the murder,” police said in a statement.

“The first incident involved a separate victim riding a bicycle. The unknown victim managed to escape from the area, but police are asking him to come out.”
