Arenado, Nolan Gorman, Juan Yepes and Dylan Carlson homered consecutively in the first inning of Saturday’s game against the Phillies. This is the first time in Cardinals history that they have had four players hit back-to-back home runs. It is the 11th time in AL/NL history that a team has hit four consecutive home runs. This is the first time since August 16, 2020 that an MLB team has hit four consecutive home runs. In that case, Cardinals pitcher Roel Ramirez gave up all four of the White Sox’s long balls.
Arenado, who had the Cardinals’ first home run since 2005 in Friday’s loss, drove in Paul Goldschmidt with a Statcast-projected 354-foot blast that left the bat at 106.3 mph to put St. Louis up 2- 0.
Rookie Gorman then hit a 392-foot homer off Phillies starting pitcher Kyle Gibson.
Fellow rookie Yepez then hit a 1-2 shot down the left field line for his third straight home run.
After a visit from Phillies coach Caleb Cotham, Gibson delivered a no-doubt home run to Carlson. That blast left the bat at 107 mph and traveled 407 feet.
A home run blast put the Cardinals ahead 5-0 before rookie left-hander Matthew Liberatore took the mound. It was Arenado’s 16th home run of the season, Gorman’s seventh, Yepez’s 10th and Karlsson’s fifth.
