Coq traffic is supported again

This is another slow route for people returning to the Lower Mainland from the southern interior.
DriveBC is warning drivers that they could face delays of over two hours due to congestion if they head south on the Coquihalla Freeway Sunday afternoon.
DriveBC has issued a travel advisory on Highway 5 from Merritt to Hope due to heavy traffic.
“Big traffic jam. Expect delays of more than two hours,” the message said.

According to DriveBC, a vehicle accident was also reported around 1:30 p.m. Sunday near the Zopkios brake inspection, in the southbound lanes. Comments on the Coquihalla Road Reports (And Area) Facebook page indicate the collision has been cleared, but long backups remain.
Several people posted pictures of columns of vehicles winding along the highway.
BC Transportation issued a warning earlier Sunday, saying the combination of summer traffic volume and work to repair highways damaged in last November’s floods will make delays inevitable, especially on the Coquihalla and Highway 1.

BC Transportation advised people to take extra time, obey traffic controls, drive for conditions and obey law enforcement.
There were also long delays at the end of the Victoria Day long weekend for people traveling south on the Coquihalla.
