Paul Pogba is close to joining Romelu Lukaku on Premier League-Serie A Groundhog Day, having agreed to bring him back to Juventus on a four-year deal. The France midfielder, who left Manchester United for the second time since his contract expired last month, is reportedly due to undergo a medical in Turin on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are clearly looking to bolster their already formidable attack with Marco Asensio. The Spain international has just one year left on his contract at Real Madrid and is valued at a relatively knock-down £25.7m. The Express reports that Jurgen Klopp has “requested” his Anfield masters to line up those willing to sign the player.
Lisandro Martinez is one of a number of Ajax players to keep the transfer gossip and infamous ITK social media accounts busy this summer, and the latest word is that Arsenal could be ahead in the race for his signature. The Argentine defender is believed to fancy Mikel Arteta’s pocket cut at the Emirates, which could help the Gunners pip Manchester United to his signature. However, Ajax, wearily aware of their talent being picked up by Europe’s wealthier clubs, are sticking to their £45m valuation. United and Arsenal offered £40m each.
Arsenal have also been linked with Lazio’s Serbian midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Leicester’s Youri Tielemans, according to the Express, who suggest throwing £25m at the Foxes could convince them to sell the midfielder, who has a year left on his contract.
Leeds are looking to spend some of their summer transfer money on Club Brugge striker Charles De Quetelaere, stunning Italian champions AC Milan in the process. Sky Italia believe the Serie A club have rejected an initial €20m bid for the 21-year-old, with Club Brugge considering Premier League interest and a possible €30m offer from Leeds. The Belgian striker scored 18 goals last season for his club.
Southampton are leading the race to sign Joe Aribo from Rangers. The midfielder, snapped up for £300,000 by Charlton when he arrived in 2019, will cost the Saints around £6m plus add-ons. Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Fulham are also sniffing around, but Southampton are believed to be already lining up a four-year deal.

Newcastle continue to face stiff competition from Bayer Leverkusen for French winger Moussa Diaby, with the Bundesliga club apparently sticking to their £60m asking price, which some outlets say has deterred the Toon, while others are still salivating because Newcastle broke the transfer window you’re a record for him. However, Eddie Howe is also interested in Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi and Everton’s Anthony Gordon and interest could intensify in the coming days.
Finally, speaking of Chelsea, Sporting midfielder Mateus Nunes is on their radar, with the west London club believed to be preparing a £42.8m bid for the 23-year-old, who has eight caps for Portugal. Wolves are also keen, but Chelsea are already favorites to sign Nunes.
