Sony confirms that God of War Ragnarök will be released this November

Sony has finally confirmed the release date for God of War Ragnarök – and it’s Wednesday, November 9 for both PlayStation 4 and PS5.

Today also offers a new CGI trailer for the game, showing “a look at some of the dangers Kratos and Atreus could face” as the prophesied Ragnarök approaches.

Many game releases and pre-order bonuses are also being announced today. Lock in your purchase before release and you’ll receive the Kratos Risen Snow Armor and Atreus Risen Snow Tunic cosmetics.

The standard edition of the game will be available separately for PS4 and PS5. Owners of the PS4 version will have to pay $10 to upgrade their copy to PS5.

The Ragnarök Digital Deluxe Edition includes another armor set for Kratos and Atreus, a digital soundtrack, a digital mini artbook, an avatar set, and a PS4 theme.

Moving on, the Collector’s Edition packs all of the above into a large physical box, with a voucher for the game and an empty Steelbook case – although it doesn’t have a disc. You also get a 16″ Mjölnir replica, a pair of 2″ Vanir Twins carvings and a dwarven dice set.

Finally, the Jotnar edition. This includes all of the above in an even sleeker physical box, plus a 7″ vinyl with two tracks by composer Bear McCreary, a Draupnir ring, a cloth map, a glossier dice set, and a badge set.

The various different editions of the game will become available for pre-order next week on July 15th. We’ll keep an eye out for pricing details.

Just last week, God of War director Cory Barlog called for calm as excitable PlayStation fans clamored for release date information, in a frenzy fueled by online gossip suggesting an announcement was imminent.

Well, here we are. In a barren year for big game launches, we can now at least mark this one on our calendar.
