Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie have abandoned plans to hold a postponed wedding at Checkers.

The pair married last year in a low-key ceremony at Westminster Cathedral, followed by a reception in Downing Street Gardens. However, coronavirus restrictions mean they can only invite a maximum of 30 guests. They had a two-day honeymoon.

Johnson planned to celebrate in style on July 30 at Checkers, the prime minister’s official country residence in Buckinghamshire since 1921. The 16th-century estate is set in 1,500 acres and features an indoor swimming pool.
