A disturbing call leads to a large police presence in Kitchener

A large police presence was seen in a south Kitchener neighborhood Saturday night as police responded to disturbance calls.

Waterloo Regional Police tweeted that there was an “increased police presence in the area of Millwood Crescent in Kitchener for an investigation.”

Police asked residents to avoid the area and also directed traffic away from a stretch of nearby Doon Village Road.

At one point, the officers were confronted by a man who had barricaded himself.

Two hours after the initial tweet, police told CTV News they had cleared the scene and an arrest had been made.

Police told CTV News that the people involved in the disturbance knew each other.
