Former President Donald Trump wanted his anti-vaccination supporters to know that he remains “proud” of his administration’s work to roll out COVID-19 vaccines, despite previous pushback for promoting them. Speaking at a rally in Anchorage, Alaska, on Saturday night, Trump doubled down on previous points of contention between him and his followers. “We’ve done so much in terms of therapy and a word I’m not allowed to mention,” Trump told the crowd, referring to vaccines. “But I’m still proud of that word! Because we did this in nine months and it should have taken five to 12 years. No one else could do it. Yet Trump went further, saying that “someday we are [him and his anti-vax supporters] everyone will have to sit down and talk a little. But you know what? We did a great job.” In December, Trump faced a swift backlash after calling this administration’s rollout of the vaccine “historic.”
