Missing boy from the Cree Nation of Red Earth found dead

On Sunday morning, Carrot River RCMP confirmed the news.

“No one wanted the search for Frank to end like this. Our deepest condolences go out to Frank’s family, loved ones and community who have been greatly affected by this tragedy,” said Sgt. Richard Tonge with Carrot River RCMP. “We would like to thank everyone in the community and beyond who helped in the search for Frank.”

At this time, police said there are no indications of suspicious circumstances, but because he was just discovered, further investigation will be conducted, including working in partnership with the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Office, and an autopsy has been scheduled.

The chief executive said they will hold a media conference soon to provide more details. In the meantime, he is asking for prayers and continued support for the family and community.

Frank Young was last seen on April 19 at his home in the Cree Nation. An extensive search involving the RCMP and several search and rescue teams took place over the following months.
