Wordle 388 July 12: Wordle word tips and today’s answer

Wordle has taken the world by storm, and if you haven’t succumbed to the daily game, we can guarantee you’ve seen the elusive squares all over social media.

The game uses the same rules as Scrabble, where only real words are allowed in both guesses and scores.

If you get a letter in the right place and form the right word, the square turns green.

But if the familiar letter is in the word but not in the right place, the square turns yellow.

The wrong letters are grayed out to aid the elimination process for the six trials.

Wordle New York Times

The game was created by software engineer Josh Wardle, who sold the popular word game to the New York Times after it became a worldwide sensation.

In a statement on Twitter, he wrote: “Since releasing Wordle, I’ve been blown away by the reaction of everyone who has played.

“The game has become bigger than I ever imagined (which I guess isn’t that big of an achievement considering I made the game for an audience of one person).

“It’s been amazing to watch the game bring so much joy to so many, and I feel so grateful for the personal stories some of you have shared with me—from Wordle bringing together distant family members, to sparking friendly rivalries, to helping medical refunds.

“On the other hand, I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t devastating.”
