Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson gets a boost from the Hollywood Browns after trading for Bernard Pollard Jr.

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has redefined what it means to be a dual threat at his position since earning the starting role.

The Louisville product, who was the 32nd overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, didn’t take long to etch his name into the record books as the NFL’s consensus best player in 2019.

That same year, he became the first QB in NFL history with over 3,000 passing yards and over 1,000 rushing yards in the same season, en route to setting the single-season rushing record for a quarterback (1,206 yards). He is also the only player in NFL history with over 1,000 rushing yards and over 30 touchdowns in a season. Jackson eclipsed Dan Marino’s mark for most wins by a quarterback before turning 25 and owns a 37-12 record as a starter.

He began the 2021 season as the only quarterback in at least the last 20 seasons to rank in the top 10 in passing and rushing through his team’s first five games, but ended up sitting out the season with an injury.

Despite his impressive resume, Jackson found himself outside the top 10 quarterbacks for 2022 as ranked by NFL executives, coaches, scouts and players.

After the list was released, ESPN’s Ryan Clark was among those who questioned Jackson’s placement outside the top 10. Former Ravens defensive end Bernard Pollard Jr. saw things differently.

A lot can be said. He’s definitely a Top 10 talent, but as far as a Top 10 QB goes, I don’t see him. I believe he should get paid by the #Ravens and should get TOP dollar!

After Jackson found out about Pollard Jr.’s comments, the two went back and forth on Twitter. Their conversation included Pollard Jr. hinting that the wide receivers weren’t interested in playing with Jackson, and the current Ravens signal caller questioned Pollard Jr.’s impact in Super Bowl XLVII.

You’ve been a blackberry since I played for the Ravens, never heard of you my boy, you won a Super Bowl for Ray Lewis and Ed Reed’s cause 🤣🤣 that year

Ultimately, Pollard Jr. and Jackson ended things amicably.
