Reported confirmed cases of monkeypox and orthopoxvirus in the US have jumped again.
There are now 1,814 confirmed cases nationwide, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Where testing for monkeypox has increased, so have the number of cases.
New York shows a total of 489 cases and California reports 266 cases.

While other states were previously under triple digits, Florida, Illinois and the District of Columbia have cases in the triple digits.
During a recent interview with ABC News, White House Chief Medical Advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci acknowledged that the cases are likely an “undercount.”
“It’s actually spreading at a rate that we think we need to deal with with testing and with vaccinations,” he said.
The agency’s figures show that cases worldwide now exceed 12,000.
This comes ahead of an emergency WHO committee meeting later this month to examine trends, countermeasures and make recommendations to countries and communities regarding the virus epidemic.
“I stress again that we must work to stop further transmission and advise governments to introduce contact tracing help track and stop the virus as well as to help people in isolation,” WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus told a briefing.

Efforts to secure vaccines in the US have faced hiccups in recent weeks, even as the government ordered more doses to meet rising demand.
In San Francisco, California, Sen. Scott Wiener warned Thursday that the city is moving toward a public health crisis due to the transmission of the virus.
The city’s public health department said it will receive an additional 4,163 doses of the vaccine next week.
“It’s less than we hoped for, but we’ll take it!” he tweeted on Friday.
CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky acknowledged the current challenges at a press briefing last week and said more help is on the way.
