Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s rift with the royal family is much deeper than anyone imagined — at least according to a revealing new book that contains the alleged tea.
Acclaimed author Tom Bower – known for his biographies of the royal families, most of which are not sanctioned by the subjects – has an upcoming project coming out called The Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War of the Windsors … and, boy , does it go into it.
For Bower … there have been subtle photos taken between the two sides behind closed doors and several dust-ups over the past few years … which appears to stem from Meghan’s 2017 Vanity Fair cover story, when she first publicly admitted your relationship.
It was a relatively small part of the article, with Meghan saying… “We’re a couple, we’re in love,” and went on to say that they will eventually come forward and tell their whole story. But of course the VF headline was all about their relationship – “She’s just crazy about Harry!”

Apparently, according to Bower, the royals were furious – because they had specifically instructed Meghan NOT to talk about Harry. At the time, they were seen together in public, but neither spoke to the press. Meghan, in turn, is reportedly up in arms against her PR agency … telling them to ask VF to pull the quote and change their angle. Vanity refused.
This doesn’t seem to have made much of an impression at Buckingham Palace – as we know, tensions only grew as time went on… reaching a boiling point with the Oprah interview.

The fallout from that meeting was devastating, says Bower – evidence of which Queen Elizabeth II allegedly said something like… “Thank God Meghan isn’t coming” when Prince Philip died a month after the interview aired. MM was pregnant again at the time … and only Harry went to the funeral, but even he was said to be nervous there.
Of course, when Lilibeth was actually born … there were reports that Meghan and Harry gave the name (Liz’s real nickname) to the Queen – which Bower also apparently confirms in his book.
Finally, there’s the drama that was quite evident at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee earlier this year – when Harry and Meghan were at arm’s length from the rest of the family for almost their entire time there … especially for coveted seating on the balcony .
As it turned out, according to Bower, MM and PH were determined to get a seat next to the Queen – this, Bower argued, in return for what they felt they were owed for getting the children there in the first place – – but Prince Charles closed it … and the queen quietly signed, not fulfilling their wishes. As you know, Harry and Meghan left soon after.

There’s also the issue of Prince Harry’s interview with Hoda Kotb, where he somewhat loathed his brother and father – but made it seem like he and his grandmother were perhaps even closer than she was with any of her other children/grandchildren. The royals also resented it, Bower claims.
There is supposedly much more to come in the actual book. “Revenge” comes out Thursday.
