Stand-up comedian and writer Jack Knight has died aged 28.
The Hollywood Reporter said Knight died in Los Angeles on Thursday. The comedian’s cause of death has not been released.
“Knight’s loved ones ask that their privacy be respected at this extremely difficult time,” a rep for Knight told the publication.

Knight’s career was on the upswing as his recent production for the Peacock, “Bust Down,” debuted in March. Knight created, executive produced and stars in the series.

He also writes for hit shows including Netflix’s “Big Mouth” and ABC’s “Black-ish.”
His peers expressed their condolences following the tragic news of his death.
Comedy Central took to Twitter on Friday and wrote: “Jack Knight was a hysterical and honest comedian. We will miss him terribly.”
Peacock’s “Bust Down” and Universal Television shared a joint statement with the Hollywood Reporter that read, “We are devastated by the death of Jack Knight.”
“He was a brilliant comedian, visionary and entertainer and we were all lucky enough to experience his greatness. Our hearts go out to Jack’s family, friends and community during this heartbreaking time.”

Comedian Eddie Della Sippe called Knight “phenomenal” in a tribute Twitter post. “An amazing talent and more importantly a great person,” he added.
In a 2018 interview with Respect, Knight acknowledged that Dave Chappelle inspired his comedy career. One hundred percent the reasons why I do what I do,” he said at the time.

Knight would eventually open for Chappelle as one of the stand-up comics to join him on stage while on tour.

During the same interview, Knight detailed Devon’s writing and voice work on the hit series Big Mouth.
“Being a writer is amazing and just being in the room with some of the most brilliant people alive and I get to sit across the table from people like Jordan Peele and Maya Rudolph,” he shared. “It’s surreal, but it’s a lot of work, work.”
