Neil Parrett takes aim at David Throne, says he’s not worried about backing primary challenger
Neil Parrott, a member of the Maryland House of Delegates, aims to defeat his rivals in Tuesday’s GOP primary to represent the Sixth District, telling Fox News Digital he is not concerned about “out-of-state” endorsements , which are one of its main contenders have received.
Asked if he was worried about the endorsements given to Matthew Foldy, a 25-year-old journalist who is hoping to win the GOP nomination to represent the Sixth District, Parrett said, “Not at all.”
Foldy received a number of endorsements from prominent Republicans, including those from House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., Maryland GOP Gov. Larry Hogan and former Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell. Last week, Foldy received endorsements from Donald Trump Jr. and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
“His endorsements are out-of-state people,” Parrott said. “He’s getting support from people in California, but it doesn’t affect this district. People care about their pocketbooks, they care about who has invested in this area, western Maryland. He’s not from here.”
Parrott also took aim at incumbent Democratic Rep. David Trohn, who he will likely face in the November general election if he advances from Tuesday’s primary.
“He doesn’t live in the area. He never has,” Parratt said of Trohn. “He’s just not from around here. Unable to contact people in this area. He is not one of us. He’s a DC, beltway elitist, and that doesn’t do a good job of representing western and central Maryland.”
“David Throne thinks he can come in here and buy this place,” Parratt added. “He threw in $2 million a few months ago, and in the last month he threw in $10 million. . . . His support is thin.”
