Jesy Nelson has left her record label Polydor, just 14 months after signing with them.
The 31-year-old singer, who also left Little Mix in December 2020, made a ‘clean break’ with the music giant after deciding to go in a ‘different direction’ with her career.
A music insider told how she wanted to “start over while everyone was still friends”, while insisting there was “no break-up” to begin with.

Jesy continues to work with songwriters and producers in the US following the success of her debut solo single Boyz, which reached number four in the UK Singles Chart upon its release in October 2021.
A source told MailOnline: ‘Jessie decided the time was right for her to make a clean break. She and the label have been going in different directions in recent months.
“And although there has been no relegation; Jesse just felt it was better to start over now – while everyone was still friends.
They continued: “She has enjoyed her time with Polydor – but feels that instead of continuing together while she has such different musical ideas for the future, she now wants to be able to fully develop her own ideas as an individual artist.”

A rep for the Romford native said: “Jessie feels now is the right time for her to go in a new direction. As a result, she decided to part with Polydorus.
Polydore said: “Polydore parted amicably with Jesse. We’ve enjoyed working with her and everyone at the label wishes her nothing but the best for the future.
In June, she responded to concerns that her solo album was being delayed following reports that her executives were “unimpressed” with early versions of her songs.
The singer left Little Mix in 2020 and released her debut solo single Boyz with Nicki Minaj in October last year, but hasn’t produced another song since.

The star took to her Instagram story to tell fans that there is “absolutely nothing to worry about”.
She wrote: “Usually don’t comment on stuff like this because I can’t be bothered to waste my energy on complete and utter bullshit so I’ll stop at this once and only once.”
The singer has been working on her new music in Los Angeles for the past few months and told fans to “stay tuned” ahead of the release as it’s “almost finished.”
She continued, “As far as I know, you’re freaking out. I promise you, you have nothing to worry about.

“I’ve had an amazing time in the studio in LA working on my album, which is almost finished.
“So excited for you all to hear the next single coming soon. So stay tuned.
She ended the message: “Love you all and thank you for being so patient x.”
Ahead of her statement, a spokesperson dismissed any suggestion of difficulties with her record label after recording several demos in LA.

A spokesperson told MailOnline: “Jesy has been in the studio recording in Los Angeles in recent months developing her work with a whole range of songs and fans can be sure to expect to hear new music from Jesy very soon.”
According to The Sun, record company bosses told Jessie to “go back to the drawing board” when they heard some of the music she had been working on.
A separate source claimed: “Jessie has been working incredibly hard on her solo music. After releasing Boyz last year, she let the label hear early versions of the songs she came up with.
“Bosses were sure there was potential there but wanted her to go back to the drawing board. They felt the songs would benefit from that – so that’s what she did.
“She’s determined to only play their new music when it’s perfect, so they haven’t heard anything since.”
The insider added that he has “high hopes” for Jesy’s album when it’s finished.
