A man who was critically injured in an attack at a Saskatoon hospital a month ago has died from his injuries, Saskatoon police said.
On June 13, Randy Beauchesne, 55, was at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon with his daughter, Danya, seeking medical attention.
She said Randy was in the coffee shop that night when a man came up behind him and drove a screwdriver into his skull.
He was treated for serious injuries, and 39-year-old Kevin Witchekan was charged with attempted murder in connection with the attack.
Saskatoon police say they believe the attack was a case of mistaken identity, meaning Randy was not the intended victim.
On Wednesday, Saskatoon police confirmed that Beauchesne had died.
Police say new charges are pending pending autopsy results and an update will be provided as soon as possible.
