Watch live witnesses testify in Johnny Depp’s defamation case against Amber Heard
The multimillion-dollar defamation lawsuit against Johnny Depp against his ex-wife Amber Heard continues in Virginia. The court heard the testimony of the actor’s sister Christy Dembrowski, who also acted in part as his business manager, and his artist friend and neighbor Isaac Baruch.
Depp claims that a 2018 article written by Hurd in The Washington Post – in which she talks about domestic violence against women – suggests that Depp, her ex-husband, was a rapist.
Although the 35-year-old did not name the actor, Depp’s lawyers say Hurd’s allegations made it difficult for the 58-year-old to get roles he had previously played.
Depp is known for his roles in films such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Sweeney Todd and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Hurd appears in titles including Aquaman and Drive Angry.
He is seeking $ 50 million (£ 38.2 million) in damages during a trial in Fairfax County Court. Hurd, meanwhile, has filed a defamation lawsuit against Depp, whom she divorced in 2017, for annoyance.
Earlier, Depp lost a defamation lawsuit in the United Kingdom against the British newspaper The Sun over allegations in Hurd’s 2018 article.

Mr Patterson testified that he saw Hurd several times in the building in 2016, but never communicated with Depp.
In footage of Depp in the building, Patterson said he would describe the actor as “animated” and not angry.

Hurd’s lawyer Elaine Bredehoft asks Baruch about Depp’s relationship with his ex-partner, singer Vanessa Paradis.
She then asks about text messages and Depp’s use of the word “c ***”.
“He calls me ac ***,” Baruch replies.
Asking Baruch to review a text conversation, Bredehoft then asks, “Do you remember Mr. Depp ever telling you that he hoped Amber’s rotting corpse was rotting in the fucking trunk of a Honda Civic?”

In the lyrics, Depp says he thinks Hurd is ruining their lives and can’t stand looking at the building where everyone lived, and then decides to sell the apartments.
