The astonishingly rapid chase of the CHP ended in Country Canyon after police officers collided with the driver in the bushes on Highway 14.
The driver, who at one point hit a 130 mph jeep, jumped out of the vehicle and left it rolling on the highway. A cogeneration cruiser nearly ran him over before jumping over the railing and escaping through the bushes before colliding.

The driver was driving a stolen silver Toyota 4runner SUV, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The chase began on Highway 170, then moved to superficial streets before jumping back to Highway 170.
At 13:27 the driver was driving on Highway 14, recklessly driving on his way to Palmdale.
Initially, the high-speed chase did not involve ground units, but a police helicopter followed the SUV, traveling between 70 and 80 miles per hour in the slow lane of the highway and at speeds of up to 125 miles per hour as it spun around cars and large platforms.
At one point, the driver passed another car on the left side of the highway at a speed close to 125 miles per hour. The driver often passed other cars very close, although there was a lot of space around the highway.
The CHP stopped the chase around 1:30 p.m. due to incredibly high speed and reckless driving.
The driver continued to drive recklessly despite the lack of police teams on the ground and in the air, and even crashed into a highway sign on a ramp.
The driver continued past at least two cogeneration units while driving on Highway 14 before exiting Santiago Road. The car then lurks under the overpass as the cogeneration vehicles continue north on Highway 14.
The car then began traveling west on Santiago Road, then south on the Sierra Highway.
At one point, the driver stopped on a dirt side road and looked out the driver’s side window at the news helicopters hanging from above long enough that two unmarked CHP vehicles overtook the 4runner.
The driver then took off again, eventually heading north on Highway 14 to Acton, resuming the chase with the CHP.
NewsChopper4 was traveling at 110 mph and was still behind the car – meaning the car could easily reach 115 mph.
