A Russian naval cruiser, which was disgracefully cursed by a brave Ukrainian soldier at the start of the war, was “badly damaged”, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. But how Russia’s most powerful warship, the Glory-class cruiser Moscow, was maimed remains unclear. Russia claims the ship’s ammunition was detonated, forcing the crew to evacuate, while a Ukrainian official had previously established the damage to two missiles. The cruiser, part of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, was at the center of what is now a notorious moment of heroism by Ukrainian border guards on Snake Island, who boldly told the warship “Fuck you” when he told them to surrender in February. The recording of the soldier’s words immediately went viral.
