Dead pigs spilled in M18 in “slaughter” truck accident

Dead pigs were scattered on the highway after an M18 crash described by eyewitnesses as a “massacre”. The traffic was stopped on M18 and M62 after an accident involving a truck and a car at the crossroads between two roads.

Drivers in the area are facing significant delays with about five miles of traffic from the M62 junction heading east. These delays are complicated by the work on the Uz bridge.

M18 was closed to the north while emergency services were present at the scene around noon on Thursday (April 14th). Traffic to the south is also affected by two lanes closed by the M62 junction facing south.

The truck transporting livestock spilled some of its cargo during the crash and there are now reports of many dead pigs buried in the asphalt. It is assumed that no one was seriously injured in the crash.

Speaking about the incident on Goole’s Facebook page, Annie Hollowell said: “My fiancé is on it right now. There were trucks and a car. A truck was full of pigs, where the roof was torn off and there were dead pigs on both sides of the highway, which cut it to a lane. It’s obviously a massacre. “

Speaking to Hull Live, passing driver Pete Hezeltain said: “It looked like three trucks and a car involved in the crash. Two lanes were closed on my side of the road and I was entertained for about 20 minutes.

“As I approached, I realized that the lanes were closed because three dead pigs had been thrown by a truck on our side of the highway. There must have been six or seven more dead pigs on the other side – that was horrible.

Humberside police confirmed that they were present at a traffic collision at the intersection of M62 and M18. Inrix Traffic Service reports that the collision was between a car and a truck.

AA reports severe delays in the north as traffic is stopped near the scene. Drivers are advised to avoid the area.

The M18 remains closed to the north, but all lanes to the south are now open again.
