Britain plans to begin deporting asylum seekers to Rwanda in about six weeks in an unprecedented attempt to tackle the global migration crisis.
The times understands that Boris Johnson wants the first flight to take migrants from the Channel to the Central African country to leave at the end of next month. The government wants tens of thousands of people to be relocated over the next few years.
Each migrant sent to Rwanda is expected to cost British taxpayers between £ 20,000 and £ 30,000. This will cover pre-departure accommodation, charter accommodation and the first three months of accommodation in Rwanda.
Anyone who has entered the United Kingdom illegally since January 1 is subject to relocation, according to Tom Parsglow, Minister of Justice and Migration.
