Liz Sheridan, the actress who played Jerry Seinfeld’s mother in his hit show, has died at the age of 93.

The New York-born star is said to have died of natural causes, TMZ reports.

According to the report, Liz died “peacefully in her sleep” on Friday at 2:30 a.m., just five days after her 93rd birthday.

She portrayed the character of Heinfeld’s mother Helen in the show for the entire series, which ran from 1993 to 1998, appearing in 21 episodes.

Acting as a very protective parent, Liz’s character was known for her catchphrase, “How can someone not like him?”

Sheridan was the only recurring character, with the exception of the four main cast members, who appeared in each season of Seinfeld.

The theater was also known for his role as Raquel Ochmonek in the ALF series, which aired from 1986 to 1990 and appeared in 34 episodes of the show.

Her film credits include small roles in Who’s That Girl (1987) starring Madonna and Play the Game (2009).

The singer made a splash with the romantic comedy Play the Game, because of her eight-year sex scene between her and Andy Griffith.

Sheridan began her career in show business in New York and the Caribbean, working as a dancer and nightclub singer before moving on stage.

She starred in Broadway productions in the 1970s, both in musicals and plays.

While on the boards, Sheridan co-starred with Meryl Streep and Christopher Lloyd in the 1977 musical Happy End.

She then moved to Los Angeles and began working in Hollywood, finding supporting roles in many prime-time television films.

She has appeared in classic shows, including Kojak, Archie Bunker’s Place, St. Elsewhere, Newhart, Moonlighting, The A-Team, Who’s the Boss, Hill St. Blues, Cagney & Lacey, Family Ties and Murder, She Wrote.

ALF was her first big role, where she played the curious neighbor Rachel, putting her on the map as a reliably funny character.

However, Sheridan really established himself in the television landscape when he joined Seinfeld, the eponymous show created by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld.

Widely considered one of the greatest and most influential sitcoms of all time, the show lasted nine seasons and produced 180 episodes.

Sheridan is the daughter of concert singer Elizabeth Poole-Jones and classical pianist Frank Sheridan.

Her husband, jazz musician Dale Wells, died in 2003. The two met in the Caribbean in Puerto Rico and were together from 1960 until his death in 2003. The couple married in 1985.

Before meeting her husband, Sheridan met James Dean and wrote a book about their novel entitled Dizzy & Jimmy: My Life with James Dean: A Love Story.

According to the book, the couple met one rainy afternoon in the hall of the rehearsal club, a boarding house for young actresses in Manhattan.

“Dizzy Sheridan and James Dean were lovers; they lived together; as even ardent Dean fans may be surprised to learn that they were engaged to marry.
