Captured Briton Aiden Aslin, seen moments before surrendering without head injury, is seen on Russian television

Footage has surfaced of a British man stationed with Ukrainian Marines in Mariupol, in which he can be seen just before he surrendered to Russian soldiers, with no visible head injuries after his capture.

In the video, 28-year-old Aidan Aslin from Newark, Nottinghamshire, walks through the ruins of a steel plant in the southern city, where he fights Russian forces for 48 days.

“If you’re watching this video, it means we’ve given up,” he said. “We finally ran out of resources. We ran out of ammunition, food. All we had left was water, but we were just under constant heavy shelling, heavy artillery, heavy air strikes.”

On Thursday, Russia’s main news program showed footage of Mr Aslin being questioned by members of Russia’s security services after surrendering with Ukraine’s 36th Marine Brigade.

In it, the 28-year-old man was accused of being a sniper, but denied that he had fought, saying he remained in a bunker during the battle because he was scared.
