Detective Superintendent Matt Hutchinson said: “We believe this is an isolated incident and two people have already been arrested as part of the investigation. Locals will see an increased police presence in the Milton Street area today as we conduct our investigations into the incident.
“Employees at the scene are also there to reassure the community that if anyone has any concerns or problems, please talk to one of the staff. Incidents of this nature are worrying for the local community, and I would urge anyone with information to help us with our inquiries to call our non-emergency number 101, citing diary 0003 of 16 April 2022.

Large sections of Milton Road remained cordoned off until Saturday afternoon as the investigation into the incident continued. Some residents spoke of their shock after being awakened by the disturbances.
A witness to the incident said early in the morning: “I heard a lot of shouting and went out to see a woman on the street with other people heading for a car, which I guess is the reason there is a lot of glass on the street this morning.
Other residents were less surprised by the police presence and the incident. A man passing by the crime scene this morning said: “I don’t think these incidents worry people here so much because they happen so often.
“We always get drug arrests, window smashing, confrontation and beatings and running. At that moment, it goes through people’s heads.”
Another resident said: “It doesn’t bother me much anymore. We have a lot of problems here, people sometimes even sharpen their machetes. Honestly, you’re just getting used to the trouble, but don’t forget to keep your head down and stay away. “
