Shrewsbury Bridge decorated with flowers and equipment in honor of Nathan Fleetwood

In the hours since the 21-year-old was discovered on Good Friday, some of the many people who knew him visited Greyfriars Bridge in Shrewsbury to pay their respects and signs of love.

Many of them had helped search for Nathan in the weeks before he was found under the bridge. He was reported missing after a night out in the city, and was last seen in the early hours of March 27.

Dozens of floral honors and photos are attached to the Greyfriars Footbridge, which connects downtown Shrewsbury and Coleham. A scarf and a Shirbury Town scarf and shirt have also been left, showing Nathan’s love for the team.

Benefactors have left messages on the shirt. A group of friends of the 21-year-old from Sundorn School, now Shrewsbury Academy, posted their joint photos at the ball.

They had joined in the search for their friend after he disappeared, and leaving their homage, they exchanged memories of someone who loved his haircut and was a good footballer but a terrible dancer.

Everyone agreed that he was the most selfless man they knew.

Alfie Page said: “The number of people who turned out to be looking for Nathan showed exactly what type he was. He really had a heart of gold.

Jamie Haley said: “We’ve never heard him argue or say anything bad about anyone. He really was one of the best. “

Friends, many of whom played football with Nathan in the U18 team, are now looking to do something in his memory – probably a football match.

Shrewsbury Town player Matthew Pennington paid his respects on Twitter, saying: “It’s devastating to hear such tragic news. My thoughts are with his family and friends. Rest in peace, Nathan.”
