There is even more snow for southwestern and south-central Manitoba after parts of the province saw an April storm earlier in the week.
Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for Saturday night against Sunday, where affected areas could see between 10 and 15 centimeters of snow.
Another haircut system has begun to take shape in Montana and will continue to be tracked to the east on Saturday night, the meteorological agency said.
The snow warning covers the following areas:
- Brandon, Nipava, Carberi and Trehern.
- Killarney, Pilot Mound and Manitou.
- Melita Provincial Park, Boaseven and the Turtle Mountain.
- Morden, Winkler, Altona and Maurice.
- Virden and Suris.
In southern Manitoba, snow will begin to fall Saturday night near the Saskatchewan border, heading east toward the Red River Valley.
The snow will decrease from west to east and will end in the east by Sunday evening, the warning said.
The heaviest snowfalls are expected in the settlements south of the Transcanada highway, where up to 15 cm in total are expected.
Near the turtle mountains and on the southern hill of Pembina, the higher terrain can lead to total accumulations at the local level, approaching 20 cm.
After switching the system on Monday morning, winds with gusts of 40 to 50 km / h are expected, which can lead to blowing of snow.
By the afternoon, winds will be down to light for most of southern Manitoba.
Environment Canada warns people to adjust their driving to changing road conditions, as visibility may drop sharply.
