Boris Johnson, Liz Trus and other cabinet ministers are barred from entering Russia

Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, Ben Wallace, Priti Patel, Rishi Sunak and other top ministers have been banned from entering Russia, the country’s foreign ministry said.

The move follows “the unprecedented hostility of the British government, in particular the imposition of sanctions against senior Russian officials,” the foreign ministry said in a statement.

Scotland’s first minister, Nicholas Sturgeon, is also among the 13 banned from entering the country.

Other senior ministers include Dominique Raab, Grant Shaps, Quasi Quarteng, Nadine Doris, James Happy, Attorney General Suela Braverman and former Prime Minister Theresa May.

Whitehall sources suggest that Prime Minister, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss and Secretary of Defense Ben Wallace are likely to see this as a sign of their leadership’s success in taking difficult action against Russia.

They said the UK sanctions against Putin and Lavrov meant neither of them would be able to travel to the UK.

Russia’s foreign ministry said: “This step was taken in response to London’s unbridled information and political campaign aimed at isolating Russia internationally, creating conditions for limiting our country and suffocating the domestic economy.”

It says that in the near future Russia will expand the “stop list” of British politicians and parliamentarians who contribute to inflating anti-Russian hysteria, pushing the “collective West” to use the language of threats in dialogue with Moscow and shamelessly inciting Kiev’s neo-Nazis. mode “.

The statement added: “In essence, the British leadership is deliberately worsening the situation around Ukraine, pumping the regime in Kyiv with deadly weapons and coordinating such efforts by NATO.

“It is also unacceptable to incite London, which is strongly pushing not only its Western allies but also other countries to impose large-scale anti-Russian sanctions, which, however, are meaningless and counterproductive.

“The Russophobic course of the British authorities, whose main task is to provoke a negative attitude towards our country, to sever bilateral ties in almost all areas, is detrimental to the welfare and interests of the people of Britain itself.

“Any sanctions attack will inevitably hit their initiators and receive decisive resistance.”

The Kremlin’s move comes after the United Kingdom sanctioned some of Russia’s banks, businesses and oligarchs and will gradually suspend Russian oil imports by the end of 2022.
