LIVONIA, Michigan – Parents at a school in Michigan are outraged after a child brought a bottle of Jose Cuervo margaritas ready to drink and shared it with several of his kindergarten classmates at breakfast, according to a report by Local 4 News in Detroit.
Students at the Grand River Academy in Livonia received the drink they originally thought was juice, and some of them consumed it.
The parents said that their children did not understand at first that they were drinking a mixture of margarita soaked in tequila.
One parent said FOX 2 said her child drank four or five sips of a full glass of Dixie. Another parent said her child “felt dizzy” and “a little dizzy” after consuming it.

Many accused school officials of allowing the incident to happen. According to FOX 2, a student drank the margarita and later found out that it contained alcohol. She then informed her teacher.
“… She went and told the teacher that there was alcohol in that glass, and the teacher made a funny face on her,” said the parent.
A school spokesman told WDIV that school staff immediately called the poison control and the parents of the students involved.
WDIV shared a copy of a letter sent home to the parents informing them of the incident and saying that the child responsible for it would be subject to disciplinary action under the Code of Conduct for Students.
A school spokesman also shared the following statement with WDIV:

“We understand the fears and frustrations of our parents. One student brought to school a pre-mixed alcoholic beverage for a single serving, which was sold as an adult lemonade, and shared it with four classmates. Although we try to keep track of everything our students wear to school, this is simply not possible. It is a pity that these types of drinks for adults can easily be confused with suitable drinks for children.
“School staff noticed the drink and immediately addressed the situation, which included consulting with medical professionals to control the poisoning and calling the parents of the children involved.
“We are grateful that no student fell ill or needed medical attention.
