A man was stabbed after being attacked by assailants while crossing a road

A man was taken to hospital after being stabbed while crossing a road in North Ayrshire.

The 31-year-old man was attacked by two unidentified men while walking through Hawke’s Place in Stevenston at around 12.30 on Sunday.

He received a stab wound during the attack and was taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment. Police say he has been released since then.

One of the two men is described as white, about 5 feet 8 and with a thin physique. He was wearing a black hat, a black shell jacket, and blue jeans.

No description of the second person is available.

Detective Officer Fraser Murray of the Saltcoats Police Department said: “Our investigations into this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone with information to come forward.

“We would like to talk to anyone who may have seen or heard disturbance in the area, or anyone who may have a video camera or private video surveillance in the area.

“Anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident 0279 of April 17, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
