Now the Sun Pierce columnist has shared how his brief friendship with Megan came about.

He said: “One day I was bored at home – it was 2015 – and I followed four of the stars of Suits on Twitter. Three of the boys and Megan Markle.

Pierce told The Times: “She sent me a direct message five minutes after I followed her, saying, ‘Oh my God, thank you for following. I’m such a big fan! ”Which is pretty much considering the way things have turned out.

“She had watched me on CNN, she liked me, blah-blah-blah, whatever. Anyway, I started texting her and a man named Rick Hoffman, who plays Lewis in costume.

“The three of us are texting, sending me early episodes for preview, email. He came to Good Morning Britain; we sent the pictures to Megan. Everyone is very carefree. ”

Pierce revealed that he and Megan spent an afternoon at a local pub before she eventually “disappeared” and he never heard of her again.

He said, “I said, ‘Why don’t you come and have a drink at my place, Scarsdale?’ She came down, we had a few hours, we had a great laugh, I thought she was really nice. Great fun.

“She said she gets a few calls from boys, she gets a lot of messages, people are pretty stubborn, blah blah blah.”

“I took her in a taxi, she went to dinner in Mayfair on 5 Hertford Street and I never heard of her again.”

Pierce added, “She turned out to have met Harry that night.”

The broadcaster recently promised to challenge the culture of repeal with his long-awaited return to television.

He said: “Today, a year ago, I was forced to leave the job I loved, on top of its success, because I had the audacity to express an honest opinion.

“This should not happen in any democracy, supposedly built on the principles of freedom of speech and freedom of expression.

“I am delighted to be returning to live television with a new daily show that aims to end the Cancel culture that has infected societies around the world.

“I want this to be a platform for lively, vigorous debate, news interviews and this increasingly taboo three-letter word: fun. I also want to irritate all the right people.
