Teen boxer Ali Tazim, nicknamed “the next Amir Khan”, dies in car crash near Birmingham

A teenage Black Country boxer has died in a car crash near Birmingham.

Ali Tazim, 18, was called “the next Amir Khan” and today the boxing world is in mourning after his death.

The Wolverhampton-born athlete was part of Walsall’s 4-pound boxing academy and spent the last week training with Floyd Mayweather Sr. He was chosen to watch, winning 15 international gold medals.

Sam Jones, head of the talent department at Probellum, who signed Ali Tazim, tweeted: “I woke up this morning with the news that Ali Tazim died at the age of 18. I can’t believe I can’t even handle it properly.

This time he met with Olympic silver medalist Amir Khan, who said: “He will be the next me and will make history.”

The promoters of boxing quickly realized the young man’s talent, facilitating quick reflexes and defensive abilities.

His amateur record includes 45 successes and he has won medals at events including the Monkstown Box Cup.

Tribute to the rising star and condolences to his family, including his father, Dr. Tee, came in today.

The death comes when police want information about a fatal crash in Wolverhampton.

West Midlands police say an 18-year-old man died after a car hit a wall in Wolverhampton in the early hours of the morning.

ITV News Central asked if the crash was linked to Mr Tazeem’s death.

West Midlands police declined to provide additional information about the crash, and it is unclear whether the incidents were related.
