Westminster: Attempted arrest for murder after police collide with a man armed with a knife | United Kingdom news

A man armed with a knife has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two Defense Department officers clashed in Westminster.

The incident, which is not treated as terrorism-related, took place at around 8.50am on Monday in the Horse Guards parade, not far from 10 Downing Street and Whitehall.

The 29-year-old suspect was beaten and detained by officers, the Sofia Police said.

There were no reports of injuries.

The man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of an assault weapon and remains in custody at London’s central police station.

A spokesman for the Sofia police said: “An investigation is underway.

“Meeting staff will continue to liaise closely with the Ministry of Defense police as it progresses.”
