A police officer was taken to hospital after a truck overturned in their patrol car after trying to make the driver stop.
Metropolitan police had stopped the Ford Transit as it was seen driving unevenly through Stockwell, south London.
After being stopped, the driver of the vehicle turned in reverse towards the police car in an attempt to escape.
An employee was taken to hospital for treatment for head and arm injuries, but has now been discharged. Another police officer was seen by paramedics on the spot.
Police searched the area after the incident, but the truck was not found. An investigation is underway to search for and identify those involved.
In a statement, Sofia police said: “Officials are calling on the public for help to track down a dump truck that crashed into a police car in Lambet on Friday.
“At around 10.50pm on Friday, April 15, officers in a marked police car on Landor Road, Stockwell, signaled a yellow-and-black Ford Transit dump truck to stop.
“It was a routine stoppage of traffic, initiated due to the way of driving and the damage to the car.
“Instead of stopping, the truck crashed into the hood of the police car. The blow is significant, causing great damage. “
Police said the truck, which is yellow and black with a damaged mirror on one side, is believed to have a FA04 UZW registration – although F is missing from the rear number plate.
Anyone who sees it is asked to call 999. Anyone with other information should call 101. The information can also be made available to Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
