Drivers who top up at The Cluanie Inn during their Easter trips north have shared their price shock with one who branded it for highway robbery.
An enraged driver wrote on social media: “At least Dick Turpin was wearing a mask.”
The price of the Cluanie Inn pump is despite the fact that Chancellor Rishi Sunak reduced the fuel duty by 5 pence last month as drivers struggled with record fuel prices.

The pump reopened earlier this year after a short seasonal shutdown.
But even before the price rose again, drivers were already stunned when prices reached 184.9 pence per liter for diesel and 165 pence per liter for petrol.
One thought, “Golden flakes in this fuel.”
Another added: “At this price, they don’t have to be open all day. Few cars in them made a profit … damn it, didn’t they ?! Faberge diesel? “
One disgruntled driver is considering pushing his car to the next garage2 to save one or two sides, while another jokes: “He can fill the truck there tomorrow.”

Cluanie Inn bosses said its fuel prices were based on its remote location, the cost of transporting petrol and diesel to the site.
Vanessa Krasto, vice president of the parent group Black Sheep Hotels, added: “We do not make any profit from fuel sales.
“It’s more of a service we provide. There is no other fuel pump for many miles and we keep our service open 24/7. Cluanie Inn has no (mains) electricity. It relies on the diesel generator. ”
Last month, the Cluanie Inn was awarded the Traveler Review Award 2022 by booking.com – and there was a series of rave reviews from guests.
