Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a fatal accident in Cambridge involving a black motorcycle.
Ambulances were called to the scene on Moorefield Street, just off Franklin Boulevard, around 6pm on Saturday.
Authorities say a black motorcycle hit a tree on an off-road trail at the end of the street.
The driver of the dirty motorcycle, a 20-year-old man from Cambridge, was pronounced dead on the spot.
Investigators say no drugs or alcohol were involved.
Police could not confirm whether such incidents have occurred in the area in the past, but asked the public to be careful when driving a motorcycle or bicycle on public or private paths.
“Be aware of your surroundings,” said the sergeant. Scott Griffiths with the Waterloo Regional Police. “Wear all available and necessary protective equipment and just keep your eyes and ears open. Sometimes we ride bikes or do anything and are unaware of our surroundings. So we ask people to be aware of that, to know where you are going. “
After the accident, the trail reopened.
Police say it is often used by a wide range of people, including tourists, cyclists and people driving motorcycles, such as dirty bicycles.
The investigation into the causes of Saturday’s crash continues.
