A man was fatally hit by a train at Edwardie Park in Calgary

An elderly man was killed after being hit by a freight train on the Canadian Pacific Railroad in Edworthy Park on Sunday afternoon.

At around 13:15 in the park south of the Bow River, the CP train hit a man walking on the railway tracks, a CP statement said. Calgary police said the man appeared to be running down the runway with earplugs when he was hit.

EMS reacted, but the man was pronounced dead on the spot. No one was injured and no one was taken to hospital.

CP police are investigating the incident with Calgary police.
