What did Prince Harry mean when he said he wanted to make sure the queen was protected?
He answered – unprovoked – a question about his trip to see the Queen last week when he and Megan stopped at Windsor Castle on their way to the Invictus Games in the Netherlands.
This was the first time the couple returned to the UK together after leaving the royal family in 2020.
It was also the first time Megan saw the Queen after an interview with Oprah Winfrey, when the Duchess of Sussex accused an unnamed member of the royal family of being a racist, and Buckingham Palace responded with a brief statement that “memories can vary”.
Harry told the NBC interviewer that they enjoyed tea with the queen and that she was in “great shape”, but he went on to tell the host of his show today that he was “just making sure she was protected.” and she has the right people around her. “
Did she mean that her family does not protect the queen? Or its employees?
As the next two on the throne line, Prince Charles and Prince William can be forgiven for feeling attacked, but given Harry’s reluctance to talk about his father and brother in the rest of the interview, this may are the officials to whom Harry betrayed this thinly veiled attack.
Asked if he “missed” his father and brother, Harry dismissed the issue completely and talked about the Invictus Games and his family’s return to California.
So he could speak of the queen’s highest courtiers. Perhaps he meant those who advised the Prince of Wales or the Duke of Cambridge.
Is Prince Harry trying to influence directly the institution from which he left? Reported by Chris Ships
When we approached Harry and Megan’s spokesperson and asked them to explain what Harry meant, they refused to do so.
But if you remember that explosive interview with Oprah last year, many of Harry and Megan’s attacks were on what they kept calling the “institution” – not Harry’s family.

This is the institution that Harry believes did not fulfill its obligation to protect his wife when she became a high and high-ranking working king.
And this is the institution that Harry accused of starting an investigation into allegations of harassment by Megan (this investigation has not yet been made public).
It is unclear why he believes the queen is not protected.
Does she mean her decision a few weeks ago to ask Prince Andrew to accompany her to Prince Philip’s service for Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey?
Does he claim that her workload should have been relieved much earlier, which has given her a growing weakness since she became a widow?
Harry didn’t say, the interviewer didn’t ask, and his office won’t give details.
But it is clear – from the words he uses – that Prince Harry believes that the Queen is not protected – and the “people” around her are to blame.
