Johnny Depp’s cross-examination continued on Thursday when he took his position for the third day to testify against his ex-wife Amber Heard, whom he accused of ruining his reputation and career with false accusations of domestic violence.

When the cross-examination began, Hurd’s lawyer, Benjamin Rothenborn, asked Depp if he considered himself a “southern gentleman.” Depp confirmed, adding that he did everything possible to maintain knightly standards.

During a defamation lawsuit in the United Kingdom in 2020, which Depp lost, several personal and embarrassing text messages with Depp were read in court.

These 2014 texts were read again in court on Thursday, including messages from Depp, who sent to Bethany: “Let’s drown [Heard] before we burn it. “

“I’ll fuck her burnt body after that to make sure she’s dead.”

During his testimony, Depp admitted that he dipped his severed finger in paint to write messages with paint and blood on the walls and furniture in the house where he and Hurd stayed.

Several photos of the paint / blood reminders, as Depp called them, were displayed in court, including scratched, barely legible inscriptions on a mirror and lampshade.

As in an audio clip and in several text messages, Depp referred to this already scandalous day as “the day I cut off my finger,” the court heard.

During his previous testimony, Depp claimed that the figure was cut after Hurd threw a bottle of vodka at him and she hit his hand, breaking the glass.

Perhaps the most troubling details to be revealed, however, came in the late afternoon when Rothenborn released a video of a battle between the couple, which Hurd tried to secretly record.

In the video, Depp can be seen in the kitchen of his Hollywood home, furiously banging cabinets and kicking cabinets. He stumbles in and out of the frame several times, and the sounds of broken glass are heard twice off the screen.

Hurd asks him several times what he’s upset about, while Depp, visibly intoxicated, pours a large amount of wine into a wine glass in a jar.

When he realizes that Hurd is recording the argument, he pulls the phone out of her hand.

The court was also shown texts from Depp to his friend Isaac Baruch, in which he called Hurd a “slippery whore” and told Baruch “hopefully the rotting corpse of C-t decomposes in the devil’s trunk of the Honda Civic!” ! ”

The cross-examination ended on Thursday after a five-minute audio clip from one of Depp and Hurd’s last meetings in 2016 was presented to the jury.

The recording shows Depp repeatedly trying to persuade Hurd to cut him with a knife.

“Do you want to cut me somewhere?” he asks.

“Please don’t hurt yourself,” she begs.

“If you don’t, I’ll do it,” she said.

Several times during the video, Hurd begs Depp not to cut himself and tells him that she won’t cut him either. She also repeatedly begs him not to get hurt.

On Wednesday, Depp testified about the details of his relationship with Hurd, claiming that she used his personal weaknesses as “ammunition.”

“It seemed like pure hatred for me,” he said, arguing that Hurd would call and escalate misunderstandings in “full-scale disputes.”

The lawsuit between the two stars has caught the attention of viewers around the world, with Hurd, 35, and Depp, 58, claiming to be victims of violence. The original lawsuit began when Depp filed a $ 50 million defamation lawsuit over a Washington Post publication in late 2018 on domestic violence.

Hurd did not mention Depp by name in the article, but the actor claims that his reputation and career were still “devastated” as a result.

Depp’s lawyers have already called several witnesses, including friends, the couple’s therapist and the doctor and nurse, who claim to have treated the Pirates of the Caribbean actor for substance abuse.

In introductory statements made by the ex-spouses’ legal teams last week, Depp’s lawyers said Hurd “chose to lie about him for his own benefit.”

Hurd’s lawyers say otherwise, arguing that freedom of speech allows the Aquaman actor to write the Washington Post.
