LECLAIR, Daniel Brian – Obituary – Sault Ste. Marie

He left this world in the loving arms of Karen and Brian. For 29 years we were blessed to have this wonderful, loving and kind man in our lives. A son who brought so many gifts to his entire family. Barry’s brother John, whom he admired so deeply and was especially proud of.

His great smile, hugs and quirky sense of humor will be sadly missed by friends and family. Daniel could strike up a conversation with anyone. He wore his Toronto Maple Leafs hoodie and laughed at the answers so many people would give him.

Cooking was a favorite pastime, especially during camp steak nights and special occasions. He found great joy and fun playing with Kathy’s grandchildren, Grace and Ellie. Dogs, especially his own “Sandy”, held a special place in his heart.

Daniel lived on his own terms.

He attended Algoma University to study finance and economics. The time was spent reading books and dabbling in the stock market.

Daniel always aspired to become an underground miner, the fourth generation in our family. He was a hardworking Redpath Man. He was proud of his achievements and those of his own team. “I’m on the priority team of heavy hitters that drive the drop into the deepest, most remote points of the mine” #tipofthespear. It filled him with a sense of adventure to go where many chosen men had been.

Our hearts will carry you wherever we go. We will see you at sunrise every day and dream of you every night under the moonlight. I hold you close forever my love.

Daniel is survived by his parents Brian and Karen LeClair and his brother Barry John LeClair (Samantha). Grandson of Virginia Turpeinen and the late John Henry Turpeinen, the late Yvonne Leclair and the late Maurice Leclair. Great-grandson of Eva Tremblay. Nephew of Kathy Gorgi (Ralph), Miles Turpeinen, Brenda LeClair, David LeClair (Geraldine) and great-nephew of Gail Fila. Cousin of Jessica Martin (Dave), Nicholas Martin (Fran), Matthew LeClair, Michael LeClair and Nicole G (Dale). Special family friend Lena Richards. Lifelong friend of Chris White and Lindsay Raycraft.

We thank Dr. Kunz for her unwavering care of Daniel. To the ICU staff who tirelessly provided the best possible care. Special thanks to nurses Shona and Anna.
