Algoma Public Health reported two deaths, three new hospitalizations and 42 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the region.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 49 people have died in the public health area of Algoma, and 28 of these deaths have occurred since the beginning of 2022.
There are 33 people in hospital with COVID-19, seven of whom have been admitted due to COVID-19-related illness.
Five people are currently in intensive care.
There are 373 active cases of COVID-19 in the region, compared to 375 in the last report, and 44 cases have been resolved.
APH conducted 414 tests since the last report with a positive percentage of 10.1%.
Eligible 85.3% of Algoma residents received at least two doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
Note: As of December 31, 2021, the province has limited PCR tests for COVID-19 to the highest risk populations. In addition, some people with a mild or asymptomatic infection may not seek a test. Algoma Public Health points out that the number of confirmed cases is an underestimation of the actual number of people with COVID-19 in the Algoma region.
