What United players can expect during pre-season training with Ten Hag
United players can expect “long days and long hours” in pre-season training with Eric ten Haag at the helm.
“I never planned it [pre-season] to the last detail he [Ten Hag] I did, “Steve McLaren told McClaren.
“There was no flexibility in it, that’s what you did. There were long days, long hours, a lot of equipment and tactical work.
“But I’m telling you something, the work was fantastic. What he had built at FC Twente when I went there, because he started at the academy and built his way. So basically, this club, he built. Philosophy, culture and environment.
“The way they worked, what they worked on, and that’s in every age group. The details were absolutely phenomenal. This is one thing that has always stayed in my mind. He gave me those six weeks before the season to fall in love with their culture.
“I applied to it in two or three days, it was an exceptional job, he had complete control over the environment and actually allowed me to watch and observe. This continued with his preparation for opponents and matches.
“I haven’t seen him before and I haven’t seen him since.”
The end of the season is near.
