Matt Hancock’s “Inner History of the Pandemic” will be published later this year, he said.
In an interview with GB News on Wednesday night, the former health secretary said he would release a book about his experience with the Covid-19 pandemic, with the donations going to NHS charities.
Twitter users were quick to scoff at the West Suffolk lawmaker, who resigned as health minister after footage of him violating his own Covid rules by kissing his assistant Gina Coladangelo expired last summer. One tweeted that “he should be the least aware person on the planet,” while another suggested that the book be titled “A Guide to Adultery for Social Distancing.”
The book, in which Hancock looks back at how he and his fellow ministers dealt with the coronavirus epidemic, was bought by political publisher Biteback, which previously published books by MP Oliver Letwin and right-wing commentator Katie Hopkins.
The publisher said he was “happy” to publish Hancock’s book, which he described as “a unique and candid account of Britain’s battle to turn the tide against Covid-19”.
The book will “offer an honest assessment of the lessons we need to learn next time – because there will be next time,” the publisher added.
