People in Merseyside were horrified after two shootings occurred within days of each other.
The first incident happened on Tuesday around 3 p.m. Police have been called in to report that a man was shot dead in Rosalind Way Alley in Kirkdale. The 21-year-old man was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound to the neck.
His condition is described as severe, but not life-threatening. When ECHO visited the scene around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, a huge police cordon covered a large area of empty pasture near Rosalind Way, which is behind a number of homes.

A number of other cordons were also placed at multiple entrances to a large alley between Way Rosalind and Olivia Street. A man living in the area said he heard a crash, but thought it was a “motorcycle backlash.” They added that “children were playing in the street” during the incident.
Police said two men in dark clothes were spotted running from the scene to Westminster Road. At the stage, it is believed that the shooting was directed, police said.
Inspector General Jim Wilde said: “Using firearms in a residential street at any time, but especially in the afternoon, is incredibly reckless and dangerous. why this happened and most importantly who is responsible so that they can be brought to justice.
“We want to hear from someone we haven’t talked to yet who witnessed the incident or saw or heard someone act suspiciously in the area around 3 p.m. You may be living nearby or passing the area on foot or by car at the time.
“Any information you have, whether it’s a dashboard or video surveillance, can help us find the person who did it and remove him from the streets. Through information provided by our communities and proactive policing operations and tactics, we have seen a reduction in firearms incidents over the past two years.
“We are determined to continue to prevent this from happening so that our communities can continue to live, work and enjoy an evening free from the fear of accidents like this. If you tell us something you know about this incident, we will take positive action and make Merseyside safer. “
The scene near Rosalind Way in Kirkdale
On Friday, neighbors living in a “quiet mansion” said they heard a series of blows when an armed man opened fire on a house. Birch Grove in Wavertray was at the center of a police investigation after shots were fired at a property while people were inside.
Police were called to the area around 11.20pm on Thursday, where they found damage to the front door of a house, which is consistent with a gun fired. No injuries were reported during the shooting, which detectives described as “extremely reckless and dangerous”.
A woman who has lived in the area since the houses were built more than 40 years ago describes it as a “quiet area” where everyone knows everyone. She returned home shortly before midnight on Thursday to find “police everywhere” and a van patrolling the area.
She told ECHO: “We have all been here since day one, so all our children and grandchildren come here to play. I was absolutely shocked. You can usually hear a needle fall, it’s so quiet here.
Another woman said: “I know you hear people say it on the news, but it’s really quiet here. No one is in each other’s pockets, but everyone is there for each other. You feel safe here.
A number of residents said they heard a series of heavy blows during last night’s shooting. One man said he heard “four quick shots” at about 11 p.m.
Detective Chief Inspector Rachel Wilson said: “Investigations are at a very early stage as we seek to establish what happened last night. Although no injuries were reported, gunfire was extremely reckless and dangerous
“I would like to assure the local community that we are working to find the culprits and bring them to justice. Anyone who was in the Birch Grove area of Wavertree last night who saw or heard anything or anyone suspicious should contact us.
“Similarly, if you drove in the Wavertree area last night and have camera footage, please check it out and let us know if you’ve shot anything significant. Whether you contact us directly or anonymously, through Crimestoppers, please tell us what you know to help us remove dangerous weapons and those who use them from our streets. “
