Everything we know so far

Twitter wants to keep you in a good mood! Apparently Twitter is working on a “vibe” feature. In essence, it will allow users to set a status and is codenamed “Vibe”.

First spotted by researcher Jane Manchun Wong, the potential feature will allow users to set a status similar to other social media platforms such as Facebook. However, it will not look like a tweet in the feed, but instead will be pinned exactly under the user’s name.

According to Wong’s tweets, the feature will appear as a “state setting” in the tweet creation box. Clicking on it will lead consumers to five pre-set vibrations, including “grocery shopping” and “highway driving”. For starters, we’re glad that Twitter is still testing it, as these options seem very outdated.

As mentioned by The Verge, it is unclear whether users will be able to customize updates based beyond Twitter’s limited offerings. As is true for all-things-Twitter, the feature could never see the light of day if testing doesn’t show benefits. Remember fleets like Instagram Stories that closed last year? Yes, anything is possible.

If you used the Instagram Threads app, it showed similar status updates as the one shared by Wong, who also noted the similarity.

It is unclear whether Vibes will be available for change for each tweet or whether Twitter will link it directly to the profile view. Hopefully, only good Vibes get to Twitter, especially given the challenges of misinformation and bots.
