The A38 in Derbyshire is expected to remain closed until “at least the early evening” after a serious crash in the early hours of Saturday morning, April 23. Shortly before 3 a.m., England’s East Midlands Highway reported that the road between J28 of the M1 and B600 near Alfreton was closed due to a “serious collision and car fire.”
In its latest update at around 9.30 this morning, Derbyshire police confirmed that the road will remain closed in both directions until at least early Saturday night. According to the Inrix Traffic Information Service, the closure was introduced to allow “accident investigation work” to be carried out.
On its website, Highways England said: “The A38 in Derbyshire is closed in both directions between M1 J28 and B600 near Alfreton due to a serious collision that led to a vehicle fire. Emergency services, including Derbyshire police, are on the scene. National highways There are also road service staff to help manage traffic.
“Due to the serious nature of the incident, the road is expected to remain closed for several hours.”
A deviation has been made. At 3 a.m., the Derbyshire Police Contact Center tweeted: “A38 north and south closed from Wachorn Island to Cots Park Somercots. Please find an alternative route. ”
