A Florida bride and her wedding catering were charged after serving marijuana food to their wedding guests, making them sick and sending several to hospital.
Danya Shea Liberty, 42, and Jocelyn Montrinis Bryant, 31, who is in charge of her wedding, have been charged with violating anti-counterfeiting laws in Florida, supplying marijuana and guilty negligence.
On February 19, Seminole County lawmakers arrived at the community club building, where the fire and rescue service was treating many wedding guests for “symptoms similar to those of someone who has used illegal drugs.”
After asking the bride and groom if they agreed or asked for any of the foods to contain cannabis products, the groom, Andrew Svoboda, “looked [a deputy] with an empty expression for a few moments before stuttering “no”, said an affidavit of their arrest warrant.
Authorities tried to find the manager of the catering service, but found that all catering staff had left the premises. They collected used glassware and utensils, as well as food, including lasagna, chocolate-covered strawberries and pudding.
Wedding guests who have been treated for symptoms are said to feel “bloated”, “sick” and “hit”.
One guest, who ate Caesar salad, tortellini and bread with a dip of olive oil and herbs, said he “felt numb, his heart raced and had crazy thoughts”, adding that he had used marijuana years ago, but this experience ” I felt different about him. “
Another guest, who ate a salad, dip and three meatballs, said he felt “strange, tingling, nervous and had extremely dry mouth”.
One guest began vomiting and another became paranoid that her son-in-law had died and her family had not told her.
One guest said he saw the vendor reach into a punch bowl and remove a green substance, saying he could smell “strong marijuana.” So, according to an affidavit, she asked restaurants if there was marijuana in the food. The attendant “giggles and shakes his head,” she said; the guest asked “is this really true” and the catering repeated “yes”.
Several guests went to a hospital where THC was found in their blood; food samples collected at the wedding also contain THC.
According to the oath of allegiance, Svoboda agreed and allowed Joycelyn Montrinis Bryant to tie the food she served … with cannabis without the knowledge of those present, many of whom became very ill and needed medical attention.
“I do not know why. I think this is the biggest question that excites us when we talk to some of the family members, “a guest told WESH 2.” We want an explanation. “
