Peter Kay says he’s doing great because he rarely appears in public

Peter Kay told fans he was doing “great” as he made a rare public appearance near Bolton to help a good cause.

The comedy legend was a guest of honor as he helped launch a new wheelchair-accessible carriage in downtown Anderton, near Chorley, on Saturday (April 23rd). The 48-year-old joked with pleased fans when he officially launched the boat, which will offer adults and children with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy water sports and activities.

Peter has taken a step back from the spotlight in recent years after “unforeseen family circumstances” forced him to cancel his nationwide tour in 2017. Phoenix Nights co-author Bolton returned to the scene earlier this month to began his first tour in 11 years, performing his show Dance For Life at Manchester’s Central Convention Center on Good Friday.

Speaking on Saturday, the stand-up comedian revealed how he and his three children enjoyed outdoor activities at The Anderton Center, where the boat was launched on the Lower Rivington Reservoir. After being presented as an honorary guest at the opening, Peter received a gift, for the great entertainment of the audience – a T-shirt with the inscription “Honorary Instructor”.

“It is very nice to be here today, I am honored to be asked to launch this fantastic wheeled boat, which I hope will bring a lot of pleasure and happiness to many people out on the water,” said the father of three children on Saturday, according to PA. .

“Anderton Center is a fantastic place and I love coming here, and the people are really nice and when it’s a nice day and there’s a heat wave, you think you’re in the South of France.”

When he came down to cut the ribbon on the boat, he added: “I will just keep cutting it with the scissors… I thought I could break a bottle in it, but obviously in today’s world which is not allowed for recycling.

“I’ve never let anything in my life except one of my children – no, I’m just kidding. So I declare, this fantastic beautiful wheeled boat officially – do not run all and jump – open.

During the start, Peter shook hands and talked with the local Labor, the President of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, and also gave fans an update when asked how he was doing. Mirror reports.

“I’m great, thank you very much, it’s nice to do something, it’s nice to do that,” said the creator of Car Share during Saturday’s event.

Coulam Wheelyboat V17 – a specially built motorboat, fully wheelchair accessible, is the first for public use in Lancashire. The Lancashire Open Air Initiative (LOAI) and the national charity The Wheelyboat Trust have joined forces to fund, build and provide the new ship.

Andy Beadsley, director of The Wheelyboat Trust, said: “Wheelyboat is a lifeline for anyone with a disability, as each boat removes barriers and enables people with disabilities to participate together and on an equal footing with their eligible colleagues.

“Too often, people with disabilities are limited in the activities in which they can participate due to a lack of accessible facilities and equipment, which is something we are trying to change.”
