Police statement after the death of a man after an attack in downtown Nottingham

A man died after being attacked in downtown Nottingham. The man, about 30 years old, subsequently collapsed on Lower Parliament Street, Nottingham, just before 2 a.m. this Sunday.

He is believed to have been attacked moments earlier on nearby Broad Street. A police cordon has been built in the area, which will remain in place for most of the day. There will also be traffic deviations.

Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Mark Parish said: “This is an extremely serious incident and we are currently working hard to find out what happened and who was involved.

“Patrols have also been stepped up in the area to provide confidence. Local investigations are ongoing and we also want to talk to anyone who may have seen a quarrel between a group of men – some of whom are believed to have fled on Old Lenton Street.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, citing incident 55 of April 24, 2022.

There are several police cars at the scene. Upper Parliament Street closed in the early hours of Sunday, April 24.

Nottingham Public Transport (NCT) said nine of its bus services are unable to serve the street.
